You might want to clarify what you mean by "black magic".

That is the real question. Does black magic hinder while white magic helps? What if you sought to stop a murderer or you sought to free them? Would that mean, in such an instance, that black magic helps and white magic hinders?
Necromancy gets a bad wrap for being black magic, but why? Does talking to the dead have to necessarily be harmful? Could it not be helpful, say, in solving a murder case?
Or is it that white magic works within the natural and black magic works within the unnatural? I can accept that it is the natural order for dead things to go and remain gone, but then is ANY magic really natural? Isn't the natural order to simply allow chaos to reign and leave everything in the lap of the Gods?
Is it just that white magic is good magic and black magic is evil magic? If so, then what constitutes white magic and what constitutes black magic is just a matter of interpretation of circumstance.

I've heard it said that wizards bend the laws of nature, while warlocks break the laws of nature. One scenario leaves little or no corruption while the other leaved lots of corruption. Perhaps white vs. black magic can be likened to renewable energy vs. fossil fuel energy - it all depends on the damage we cause in the process.

Left Hand or more Nocturnal oriented systems of magick, are interesting and worthy of study. That being said, I don't have much expertise in that area, but I do pursue the study of magick in the pure tech sense of the craft. Here's a few texts that might help break you in, in terms of gaining a general understanding.

Real Sorcery by Jason Miller
Consorting with Spirits by Jason Miller
Power Spellcraft by Arin-Murphy Hiscock
Practical Psychic Self-Defense for Home and Office By Choa Kok Sui
Tranceportation by Diana Paxson
Chaos Protocols by Gordon White
Spirit Speak by Ivo Dominguez
Six Ways by Aidan Wachter
