Odd behaviour while dreaming lucidly

Post by PoisonPen »

I often use lucid dreaming, and have been able to have lucid dreams on a frequent basis since I was very young. In fact, it was lucid dreaming which eventually allowed me to work out my differences with my subconscious, with the Anima manifesting as Christina Applegate in my dreams and volunteering to act as dream guide and interpreter. She helped me to stop constantly interfering in the course of dreams to demand characters identify themselves and what they represent; now, if I don't understand a dream, I know that when the dream ends I'll find myself in an empty movie theatre with Christina, where we share a bucket of popcorn and my dream replays itself on the screen while we discuss what it meant.

Recently, however, my behaviour in my lucid dreams has changed. I seem to have become something of a prankster, which is strange considering I've never been a practical joker or found practical jokes very funny when awake.

For example, last night I dreamed that my computer was being hacked. I recognized I was dreaming, so I decided to crawl into the screen to see who was doing the hacking. I emerged to find a young punk riot grrl on the computer with a teenaged crusty punk dude leaning over her shoulder, kibbitzing. I realized they couldn't see me, and for some reason I decided to use this is an opportunity to prank them. I repeatedly poked the girl in her arms and ribs, then jumped back every time she reacted and accused the guy she was with, who swore he wasn't doing it. They began to look worried and the girl asked aloud if they might be haunted.

At this point I decided to explore the house, since I didn't want to scare them, just annoy them. I found another, older woman using a different computer and tried the same thing with her. I crept up behind her, reached around, and grabbed her boobs, yelling "HONK HONK!" When she didn't react to this a second time, I tried blowing in her ear. All she did was tilt her head to the side and say, in an annoyed voice, "I can see you, you know."

I raised my arms over my head and went, "WoooOOOoooOO! I am a scaaaaary ghost! WoooOOOooo!"

The woman just stood up and yelled, "Get the gun!"

The original grrl's punk friend then brought in a .50 calibre tripod-mounted minigun of the sort they put on helicopters. I told the woman, "That won't work, you know. This is my dream."

She stared me right in the eyes and said, "I guess we'll see, won't we."

I felt nervous enough that I dived into her computer screen and escaped, waking myself up.

I'm at a bit of a loss to explain my juvenile behaviour. I'm nearly 50, and even when I was young I was never much on pranks and joking. Anyone have any thoughts on this odd change in my behaviour while lucid?

It's normal to want to cause mischief while lucid dreaming.

I'm quite the prankster myself.

One night I had a lucid dream where I would walk up to random houses on the street at night - and to enter without permission - I would either knock myself out,
Electrocute myself,
E.T.C.
And I would leave my dream body and float effortlessly into the house I chose to terrorize.

One of the things I do most is:
I go into their bathroom get a piece of toilet paper and twist it up until it is very pointy and then go towards one of the closest beds with someone sleeping on it.

I take the pointy tipped piece of toilet paper and stick it all the way up their nose and wiggle it around.

They immediately wake up sneezing like hell.

It's friggin' hilarious!

...

Also...

I had a dream where I was a ghost wondering the streets at night and I found myself entering a familiar parking lot.

Ahead of the parking lot was a big arse house.

Before I could enter it I had to hover through the shadows - because whenever I flew through the moonlight...
Bystanders were able to see me! (> . <)

So I ninjad my way into the house by waiting in the shadows until someone opened the door and I entered their big arse house.

It was nothing too special,
I just wanted to see how they lived their life.

I'd rather get buzzed off of some alcohol with a chimpanzee whom also took a shot of some alcohol and go bananas inside of a bounce house while we're both listening to this song:
Over arguing with a fool. ~

Dream land is like Disneyland. Even when you have an annual pass and go every day for lunch there are still those days where it totally consumes you!

Personally speaking - age doesn't mean anything. 50 is not so old with the way (my parents) people act on Facebook. When people get into their 80's many have their prankster nature suddenly reawaken and are nothing but jokers laughing up life. I am 26 and I feel 3,000 and also 8 all of the time, 100 percent of the time. When I feel 26 i am doing it all wrong.

But on your actual experience, I think it's a perfect lesson for everyone on astral banishing :) you stated the true fact that you had all the will in the world to stay and dance around, but a tiny tiny bit of fear let them win and sent you packing.

Awesome story, can't say much more about the experience as it seems your question was mostly related to why you acted so funny. You should spend some time on what is "you" and what you picked up in the last 50 years. Maybe you need to spend more time with this "kid" self of yours. It sounds like a good dream!

Stab in the dark here, not knowing you:

I'd say you either have a time in change in life or are wanting some sorts of change. Perhaps you have children that have mostly grown up or something of that nature. Could even be some sort of slight hormonal change - men get them, though they aren't as distinct as menopause. Or even a reaction to another person's recent changes.
As far as wanting change, maybe you've worked the same job or similar jobs for a long time, something has been stagnant, or there are things you want to try that you haven't done yet.
To a lesser extent, it could be stress or some anger that you've held onto for some time and haven't expressed, but that doesn't seem as likely.
The answer tho the first is to adjust and find something to fill the void: The second is to make life changes (even practice changes could liven things up) or have new challenges. The last, well, express or destress.
