Saturn Help

Post by grayblue »

Ok so I'm a capricorn, and I'm definitely a target for saturns regular punishments. Like I have the luck that if all can go wrong it will. I could do everything right and it would just blow up in my face. Always been that way. My bf is at the age where his saturn return will be starting soon. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to deal with a saturn return? Or how to cope with saturns wrath? What would appease him more? a ritual, spell, blessing, etc. I'm unclear about herbs, stones, and food that are preferred. Every book says different things.

Dear grayblue,

The influence of the astrological planets have generally been understood in ancient and medieval times in a rather fatalistic way in which they affect human lives like the physical sun, by its physical rays, affects humans and all life on earth. This is a conventional metaphorical way the ancients understand classical astrology and the effect of its celestial bodies.

However, in the East, particularly in Hindu or Vedic astrology, the Rishis (Seers) revealed certain rites (prayers) by which a Hindu devotee could propitiate the various deities ruling over a particular celestial body. In Saturn's case, this deity is the god Shani. A Hindu, therefore, would believe that if he/she recites the following Shtotra or prayer/hymn, he/she will be relieved from the ill-effects of Shani/Saturn.
Nilanjan Samabhasam Raviputram Yamagrajam
ChhayaMartand Sambhootam, Tam Namami Shanaishcharam
निलान्जन समाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम।
छायामार्तंड संभूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम॥
OR
Suryaputhro Deerghadeho Vishaalaakshah Shivapriyah
Mandachaarah Prasannathmaa peedaam harathu me Shanih
सूर्य पुत्रो दीर्घ देहो विशालाक्षः शिवप्रियः।
मन्दचारः प्रसन्नात्मा पीडां हरतु मे शनिः ॥
I do not know for certain whether or not it is possible for a celestial body to be prevented from radiating forth its natural, planetary influence, however it is clear that the ancient Hindus (and perhaps the ancient Babylonians, to which the astrological art owes a great deal) believed it was possible. Perhaps an act of magic to counter the ill-effects of Saturn may be understood as acting as a sort of "astrological umbrella" under which you are protected from Saturn's influence, or as a sort of "Saturnscreen" to avoid being burnt by Saturn, such as sunscreen is used against sunburns. I do not know by what means you may be able to protect yourself from the ill-effects of Saturn except by theurgy. Thus, I would recommend the performance of the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram, if you are initiated into the Golden Dawn system of theurgical magic, or its equivalent, by which a banishing/balancing of the seven planetary forces is manifest.

Furthermore, perhaps a change of perspective may help you in your struggle against the undesirable influence of Saturn. Be more optimistic, and see that through the ill-effects of Saturn, you are growing, and that Saturn is only making you stronger.

Personally, of all the seven planets, I hold Saturn in highest regard (after the Sun). It's generally restricting influence is one of sobriety, discipline and hard work.

In traditional astrological esoterica, we say that Saturn is a gatekeeper to the higher realms. One way to understand this is by seeing how the harsh influences of the Saturnine forces, if they do not kill, only make stronger.

Best of luck, and may the Powers that be bless you.
