Religion comes from within not from without , anything we might tell you would be our personal beliefs . And since i hate being told anyones beliefs without me asking im keeping mine to myself . If you want to learn about religions i would suggest you visit your local library and look around the theology section im sure your gonna find something that suits you

If your an athiest, you will not be inclined to any religion, as they have a god or gods at their head. Having faith in yourself will be enough. interested in other religions? check out the net, avoid anyone who wants money.

You say occult religions? Many occultists do not have a single religion, I believe mostly what I experience and I feel is there...Check out some info on CM and you'll find that most of peoples beliefs come from first hand experience!

the question is rather do u need a religion?? i get the feeling that ur the same as me and that is i dont want/need a religion but i do have a need to belive in something (not sure yet in what but...) and to me thats not the same as following a religion but more the inner belife that there is something/s out there that are bigger then us mortals but who am i to say what that is?? just look around here on OF and the rest of the web and see what ppl belive in and have belived in through out time. to belive in something is not the same as following a religion. and when u´ve done that im sure u´ll find several things that u feel are to be true;) the best thing with not following a specific path is that ur free to take bits and pieces from all over and use em so that they fit ur needs and gives u a piece of mind.

Know this that under over there is a God, and his name is Un-God. He was created from the destruction of creation. A lengthy procedure to be sure. Rather. Ergo. Kama Sutra.
Polly wants crackers?!?!?!?! Give Polly a Cracker!!!
Cognizant nexions of genuine discord are about as fun as a box of animal crackers shot through a PVC pipe towards infinity. Or rather speaking... HEY My arm's on fire!!!!
I am actually atheist. but i need to find a religion, can you tell me about some of these occult religions? they seem just as real or more real than any other and i want to learn about them.
It is funny that you use the word "need". It is indeed exciting that an atheist "needs" to find a religion.
There is a lot of stuff that you can find by searching in these forums including suggestions on many books that you can read to get you going. Since you use the word "need" it could be an indication that you have a nose and can smell out what would be right for you. So do that.
Furthermore I will recommend that you get hold of these two books and read them:
How to Know God : The Soul's Journey Into the Mystery of Mysteries
by Deepak Chopra
The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying
by Sogyal Rinpoche

Its been said before but let just say it again. Why do you need to find a religion? You stated your an atheist, and if your happy being that way then stay an atheist. If you ask me thats better than paying lip service to some deity you don't think is real in the first place. If I were you I'd go back and think about if I really wanted a religion and if I did what I wanted out of it. Once thats done finding one should be a lot easier.

I don't know if this is your situation, but it is possible to become a "temporary atheist" after one realizes that they not longer believe in the God/religion in which they are raised. Then there is a void that eventually "needs" to be filled.
There are many different directions you can go in.
It's hard for us to give you information because people in this forum have many different beliefs.
Can you narrow it down at all? Say what you've already tried and rejected, etc.?

Hmmm, why do you feel you need to find a religion? Knowing why you are looking for a religion might help people give you some ideas. Also, if you are an atheist you do not believe in Divinity..yet you seek a religion. Religion is based on a belief and faith in a God or Goddess. Do you plan on changing your view on there not being a Creator?

Listen, respect and learn. Look within yourself and seek the reason for peace in others. I followed many paths in my life. I was SEMI content and at peace but not fully. Then a backpacking trip alone provided me with the answers I needed. Spirituality is such a personal thing. What works for others MAY be perfect for you. It was OK for me but not perfect. After traveling from path to path, I was able to understand that you do not have to walk the exact path of another. I took what I needed most from all of the paths I had traveled, asked my Guide to help me find what was missing for me and thus....deep into myself I was able to discover my own Path. That gave me more peace than I dreamed possible.
This is not to say that an organized belief system cannot be right for you or anyone. It can and is for many....however my Path was elsewhere. And I am a better soul for finding it.
Good Luck

This is a pretty good quiz if you take your time and answer honestly. http://www.beliefnet.com - go to Belief-o-Matic. Don't feel like you need to follow the crowd, you can be perfectly happy following your own path ... the one that feels right for you.
