Unknown Symbols

We have a books store in town that is rather excellent, it deals in second hands books and is rather well known for a unique flavor all it's own.

I was there today and looking through the science & math sections when I stepped out of the way of someone and by change found a message on the side of one of the bookcases that was not in plain sight.

I've checked a number of languages and symbols, both real and fiction, but cannot match it to anything.

Before someone suggests Tolkien's Elfish, I have checked and only a couple of the symbols match (and make no sense to me), and while the signature symbol at the bottom is similar to the Tolkien symbol (JRRT) that can be commonly found, it is also not a real match.

I'm hoping someone here can offer some help, I'm stumped.

Welcome to the Forum. Looking at this, my intuition tells me that the three lines of script all say the say thing, 'Find me,' with the bottom line reversed. The bottom line looks like highly stylized runes (but probably aren't) and it is not Enochian. I don't know that this is an 'occult object.' The symbol does look have a Lord of the Rings look to it as if it should be on Durin's Door. There is an off chance it is some personal sigil but it is not one that is drawn from a kamea square or from an established source of sigils or seals (I did browse through a few to double-check). Others may come to a different conclusion and see something I am not, but, my best guess is that this is graffiti.

I agree, my assumption is much the same given that the dots in lines two and three seem to be used for word spacing and would be consistent if the third line were flipped which would also indicate that the characters are made up since the spacing and symbol counts are too well aligned. I'm also getting a different feel for the different lines based on other symbolic styles. The second line gives me an middle eastern vibe, but I've checked basic Arabic as well Hindu, and Buddhist symbolism with no matches that I can find.

The second set feels more runic, Norse specifically, but doesn't line up. I checked against Enochian, Theban, Greek, and as many Alchemical/Hermetic symbols as I could find with no luck (I have a rather robust book on symbols).

I feel I have seen the bottom symbol somewhere else before (it reminds me most of the Prime symbol from White-Wolf's Mage: The Ascension game) but I'm also getting a strong impression of Asian style from it that I'm confused by.

In the end I think you are correct, this is probably graffiti, but I wanted to put it out there on the off change that someone can pick it apart

I got this [among many other results,of course] It stands out a bit,as it's interesting,Occult related and there IS a book available.

Could be a sigil charging attempt too,for whatever it's reason actually is :you 'find it' and bring it here,folk click and find it and there we go,a much bigger reach than it had before and it's request is being fulfilled,it is being found,over and over again. [thumbup]

That's def not Tolkien's personal bindrune. It's also not his version of Elvish. That bottom one's not Dwarvish, either. (Yes, I'm a Tolkien nerd LOL)

I've seen the writing on the third line before somewhere. I'm not home so I don't have access to my copies of different occult alphabets. \

It would make sense that all of the lines are different versions of the phrase 'Find me'. Almost like a Rosetta Stone. The problem is - there's just not enough text to be able to transcribe it to different alphabets.
