i'm on ed2k. there's stuff here too. i'm running a demon mod client...
you probably know that VALIS is the first of a trilogy ("Divine Invasion", "Transmigration of Timothy Archer").
another book of interest is Aleister Crowley's "Book 4" that explores the godhead.
and also Robert Anton Wilson's "Cosmic Trigger" series also is a summation of his experiences.
i think PKD returned again and again to the theme's he explored during the time of his experiences (1974?) in later works (ie "Radio Free Albemuth"). i've recently began reading works of his before VALIS and its quite an insight to his framework of thinking too. i mean, he was way ahead or outside of his time, for sure.

I am very much in favor of this concept, it comes up in conversation with some friends of mine quite often.
Consider that the human body is designed to live for 25 years, 25 short years, enough to mature, reproduce, and die. Yes people naturaly live longer, and have all through out history, but how many today are living unnaturaly, relying on suppliments, and medication to survive? How does this effect the gene pool? How does this effect our social structure? The elderly are looked down uppon in America today, cast in to a hell incarnate, feeble, and ignored... Why live that way? Why not eat, drink, and be merry while we have the time here? Unless Hindu and Buhddist phylosophy are correct, then we will eventualy return, but either way, this a fraction of a blink on the cosmic stage.

Exactly! I totally disagree with all the anti-sentiment about supplements and trying to live longer. I don't see it as unnatural in anyway, seeing as how we are part of nature and we made the damn things! (It's usually people around the ages of 17 to 20 who say stuff like that anyway! Let's see how they feel when their 'allotted time' is up and people are telling them to give up the ghost and get out of the way, especially when they will still feel as young as ever, and have many things they want to do!)
I don't believe in any permanent resting place or karmic accounts, so in my opinion the Earth is one round experience in an infinite string of pearls, wrapped around the neck of Time herself, who is just spinning and spinning, making her whole necklace shine at once, happy for the dancing.
Which comes down to living in exactly the same way as Durki suggested, so I guess it don't make much difference no how.
